The Polynesian Cultural Center is one of Oahu’s most popular tourist attractions. Here, island traditions are carried on. Walkthrough “villages” mimic real Polynesian settlements. Guides and performers teach about food, dances crafts, and language. Most employees and performers are students of Polynesian descent or heritage, whose work at the Center helps to fund their university education.
As guests enter the Polynesian Cultural Center, they pass through a bustling marketplace of shops and stands, all selling island-made goods and treats.
The old ticketing booth was lying unused, and the organization decided to upgrade it. The idea? Make it into a commemorative t-shirt shop, with the theme “the first shop on the islands.”
